Canadian carrier TELUS will offer the upgrade next month

Google has already scheduled a launch event for September 29, when we believe the search giant will unveil its Nexus flagship smartphones.

However, on the same date, we expect Google to launch the new Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system, which is already available in the form of technical preview builds.

Although Android 6.0 Marshmallow will be officially released on September 29, along with Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P, we don't believe the new version of the platform will be available right away.

On the other hand, we know Marshmallow will first be available as an update for supported Nexus smartphones and tablets.

If you happen to own a Nexus 5 or Nexus 6, then you will be pleased to know that these two handsets might be the first to receive Android 6.0 Marshmallow updates.

These dates are subject to change

According to Canadian carrier TELUS, Android 6.0 Marshmallow will arrive on Nexus 5 and Nexus 6 devices on October 5, MobileSyrup reports.

Still, this doesn't mean that all Nexus 5 and 6 smartphones will receive the highly anticipated Android 6.0 Marshmallow update at the same time.

In fact, there's a high chance that unlocked version of these devices might get it a few days earlier, while carrier-branded Nexus smartphones will probably receive the update slightly later.

It's also worth mentioning that these dates are subject to change, so TELUS might come up with a different release date for Android 6.0 Marshmallow arrival.

Those who want to purchase a new smartphone that will come with Android 6.0 Marshmallow right out of the box can choose between LG Nexus 5X and Huawei Nexus 6P, which will be available for pre-order in early October.

Both Marshmallow-powered Nexus devices should go on sale in mid-October if nothing wrong happens. We expect more details about Android 6.0 Marshmallow and Nexus smartphones on September 29, so stay tuned.
