Softpedia has been informed today, February 2, 2016, by Linux developer Arne Exton about the availability of the January 2016 build of his commercial AndEX Live CD Android-x86-based operating system.

The biggest new feature of the AndEX Live CD Build 160131 is the rebase of the entire system on the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow mobile OS from Google, as well as the implementation of a custom kernel (4.4.0-exton), based on the upstream long-term supported Linux 4.4 kernel branch, injected with extra drivers for better hardware support.

"My compiled Android-x86 system (Marshmallow 6.0.1) can run live (from CD) or be installed on almost all laptops (and some Desktop computers). The ISO is called android-x86-6.0.1-marshmallow-kernel-4.4.0-exton-GAPPS-449mb-160131.iso. AndEX Marshmallow Build 160131 is totally error-free (as far as I know)," revealed Arne Exton for Softpedia. "All those who bought my old version of AndEX Marshmallow from 151206 will get the new version from 160131 for free."

GAPPS is included

Another interesting feature of the new AndEX Live CD Build 160131 is that it comes pre-installed with the GAPPS (Google Apps) package that lets users access all sort of Google services and applications, among which we can mention Google Play Store, Google Play Services, YouTube, Gmail, etc. Also, you can use the entire system directly from a bootable USB key.

Mr. Exton says that he managed to test the AndEX Live CD on various laptops from big hardware manufacturers, such as Acer, Dell. HP, Lenovo, Samsung, Thinkpad, Fujitsu, Toshiba, Panasonic and even ASUS, but it is also compatible with many desktops. AndEX Live CD Build 160131 is distributed in the form of an ISO file, just like any other Linux OS.

AndEX Live CD Build 160131 costs money, so to enjoy the latest Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow mobile operating system on your personal computer, you'll have to pay the sum of $9 (€8). However, the developer offers full support for his product, and you can also find installation instructions, as well as details on how to purchase AndEX Live on his homepage.
