If religious-themed horror movies are your cup of tea, then maybe the new special scheduled for the Halloween holiday this year on Destination America may also tickle your fancy. It will air an exorcism live and even give viewers the possibility to participate in ghost and / or demon hunting, IGN reports.

The announcement was made at the Television Critics Association this week by Destination America GM Marc Etkind.

The special will be called Exorcism: Live! (no points for subtlety there) and will take place in the home that inspired the horror classic “The Exorcist,” 1973, aka one of the scariest movies in the genre to this day.

It will feature a group of professional ghost hunters, from Ghost Asylum and Tennessee Wraith Chasers, which also air on Destination America, and a psychic, Chip Coffey, as they try to capture on camera and exorcize the supernatural entities in the house in question.

“As we step into one of the most haunted and well-known spirit destinations in America, Exorcism: Live! will show exactly what is inside this infamous, highly dangerous and possessed home,” Etkind says. “By actually exorcising this iconic house live, Destination America will do what it does best - bringing never before seen experiences to television.”

Destination America will actually be doing more, because it will also offer viewers the chance to participate in the ghost / demon hunting: on the night in question, the Destination America website will offer feeds from cameras placed around the house, for viewers to keep an eye on.

Any spotting will then be reported back to Destination America on Twitter. So, are you game?
