To promote the comedy “Trainwreck,” inspired from her life

Anticipation for Disney’s “Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens” is so insane right now (even though there are many months to go until release) that not even Amy Schumer can resist jumping on that bandwagon to promote her own movie.

The comedienne stars opposite Bill Hader in “Trainwreck,” a comedy that is actually inspired from her real life, and to promote it, she’s channeling her inner, naughty Princess Leia in a Star Wars-themed photospread for GQ magazine.

Amy gets dirty, goes viral

Obviously, Amy’s spread in the magazine is not affiliated to the actual “Star Wars” franchise since she’s only using the hype around it to push her own movie. She does that with special cameos from R2D2, Chewbacca, and C-3PO.

You can see some of the photos from the spread below, with the rest available at the link before. “The rest” means those photos in which Amy’s Leia gets really naughty with these characters, in ways that only writers of adult fanfiction have ever imagined.

Because of the nature of the pics and the popularity of the “Star Wars” franchise, the spread has gone viral. And, while many applaud Amy for still not taking herself too seriously and thus delivering good-quality comedy, fans of the iconic franchise are somewhat offended by the spread. If there ever was a blasphemous thing to do, this was probably it.

In the end, Amy aimed for more exposure for the film and she got it. Speaking of which, a trailer for “Trainwreck” is embedded below. It too is safe for work, but we should note that a red-band version is also available online, if you wish to get a better idea of how the film will play out.

“I’m not the skinniest or prettiest girl”

As it happens, Amy also has an interview with Glamour UK, in which she talks about body image and what it’s like to go against the trend in Hollywood.

Amy, as you can see for yourself, is neither Hollywood-beautiful nor Hollywood-skinny. Moreover, she is proud of being different and says that she’s ok with not fitting the bill: she is happy and, for what it’s worth, she still gets plenty of attention from men.

“I’m not the skinniest or prettiest girl. But who cares?” she tells the publication. “I feel beautiful. I’m single, but never struggling for suitors. I don’t mean to sound cocky, but I like myself, I’m proud of myself and people respond to that. The surgery and starving that comes with Hollywood is sick. I don’t want anything bad enough to not eat.”
