LocatioNet Systems has announced the launch of amAze, a new free mobile mapping, navigation and local search solution for regular mobile phones. It is the first mapping and navigation application of this kind and customers can use it for free.

AmAze provides any Java-enabled mobile phone with mapping, navigation and local search information in any country in Central and Western Europe and North America.

It includes features like visual and voice guidance to any destination, searching locations by address, searching and navigating to businesses listed in yellow pages directory, indication of any required location on the map and allows calculating the fastest route between two locations, saving and managing personal favorites list and viewing and using dynamic, high quality maps at various scales.

As mentioned before, the application covers Central and Western Europe and North America and the user will not need to purchase or download any additional maps.

Wondering how come the application is free? Income is generated through advertisements and sponsorship that are integrated into the application and the user is served relevant and targeted advertising providing useful information.

"amAze is a must-have mobile application for all consumers," said Ofer Tziperman, President of LocatioNet. "Navigation and the ability to search for local information are tools that we all need regular, almost daily, access to. Our trial phase has shown us how keen people are to download and use amAze."

Future versions of the application will also include high quality aerial photos, satellite images and topographical maps. Additional regions will also be added to the mapping information.

amAze is currently available for around 100 Java enabled mobile phones and the number of handsets supported is constantly growing. To get a free copy of the application, users will need to register on the amAze website.
