The serer-oriented distro receives latest software versions

Today, June 28, 2016, Natanael Copa, the creator of the Alpine Linux distribution, has been proud to announce the immediate availability of the first point release of Alpine Linux 3.4 series.

Alpine Linux 3.4.1 arrives today, almost one month since the debut of the major Alpine Linux 3.4 branch on May 31, 2016. It is the first maintenance update bringing the latest Linux 4.4.14 LTS kernel, as well as the latest security updates and software components.

Looking at the release notes, we can notice many updated packages, among which nginx 1.0.1, qemu-openrc 0.4.1, Zabbix 3.0.3, py-django 1.8.12, VLC Media Player 2.2.4, Drupal 7.44, Xen 4.6.3, mkinitfs 3.0.5, syncthing 0.13.6, Mozilla Firefox ESR 45.2.0, PHP 5.6.23, haproxy 1.6.6, acf-openssh 0.11.1, and more others.

"The Alpine Linux project is pleased to announce the immediate availability of version 3.4.1 of its Alpine Linux operating system," says Natanael Copa in today's announcement. "This is a bugfix release of the v3.4 musl based branch, based on linux-4.4.14 kernels."

Numerous improvements have landed in this update

Alpine Linux 3.4.1 not only updates the kernel packages and many of its core components, but it also incorporates a lot of improvements to various other applications that users rely on when building their server systems based on the Alpine Linux operating system.
