14 DAY TRIAL // The guys over Alpine Linux has just announced a few minutes ago, January 7, the immediate availability for download of the Alpine Linux 3.3.1 server-oriented operating system.
According to the changelog, the first point release in the Alpine Linux 3.3 series updates many of the distribution's core components. For example, the OS is now based on the Linux kernel 4.1.15 LTS packages, for which the devs rebuilt many tools, including open-vm-tools-grsec, ipfw-grsec, xtables-addons-grsec, dahdi-linux-grsec, and devicemaster-linux-grsec.
"The Alpine Linux project is pleased to announce the immediate availability of version 3.3.1 of its Alpine Linux operating system. This is a bugfix release of the v3.3 musl based branch. Main focus of this release is fixing regressions related to specific boot environments. The full lists of changes can be found in the git log and bug tracker," reads today's announcement.
ownCloud and Roundcube Webmail suite were updated
Alpine Linux 3.3.1 also updated the ownCloud self-hosting cloud server software to version 8.1.5, the Roundcube Webmail suite to build 1.1.4, as well as the Polycom UC software to version 5.3.2. Additionally, the mkinitfs tool received quite some changes, such as an initramfs fix and removal of upstreamed patches. mkinitfs is now at version 3.0.2.
Last but not least, the Weblog software was updated to version 0.10.5. The Alpine Linux team also managed to address a TAG bug, as well as to update the pkgrel requirement for the lua-xml package, and to apply a rotary-encoder DTS fix and a linux-rpi mmc-spi patch.
