Microsoft is rethinking its mobile strategy, and while the company hasn't yet provided any information on its upcoming devices, details are slowly leaking out to the web as we get closer to the rumored launch scheduled for late September.

This time, we have a photo that is said to be taken with the camera of the new Lumia 940, Microsoft's high-end device that will come as successor to the Lumia 930.

As WMPU notes, details are missing, but Italian Twitter user @Ricciolo claims the camera comes with improved optical image stabilization (OIS) and the firmware is not yet final, with Microsoft planning to introduce several enhancements before the device becomes available.

In other words, if you're not impressed with the photo quality you see here, there's no reason to worry about it because Microsoft is still working on it, and things should be significantly better when it launches later this year.

EXIF data

While the Twitter user who posted this information hasn't provided too many details about the device itself, the EXIF data of the photo reveals that it was shot with a Lumia 9xx. This isn't evidence enough that it's a Lumia 940 camera sample, as Lumia 930 also comes with a very capable 20MP camera, but could be a sign that Microsoft could use the same unit with a number of improvements.

According to the existing rumors, the Lumia 940 is likely to debut in late September with a 20-megapixel camera with a resolution of 4992х3744 pixels, Carl Zeiss optics, optical image stabilization, autofocus, dual-LED flash for the 5.2-inch model, and triple Flash for the 5.7-inch version baptized XL.

In terms of specs, the camera is rumored to come with 1/2.5'' sensor size, 1.12 µm pixel size, the very same PureView technology that Microsoft is using on its current high-end models, dual capture, geo-tagging, face detection features, and panorama support.
