Despite the revenue drop experienced by Microsoft in the last financial quarter, the company is very keen on continuing its mobile strategy, so in addition to Windows 10 Mobile, new devices could also see daylight very soon.

One such model could be the Lumia 850, a device that has long been rumored to be prepared by Microsoft, but the company has always remained tight-lipped on the chances to see it hitting the shelves.

New photos coming from China seem to be pointing out that we’re getting closer to a possible release of the Lumia 850, as they show a new device in real life.

Possible specs

According to the information provided on Chinese forums, this could be the upcoming Lumia 850, which might feature a 5.4-inch display and boast an iris scanner for Windows Hello. This isn’t the first time we’re hearing about the possibility of getting an iris scanner on the Lumia 850, and these photos seem to confirm that this is indeed the case.

At the same time, the handset comes with a charging port at the top of the phone, and from these leaked pictures, it seems to be USB Type-C, similar to the one on the Lumia 950 and 950 XL. Microsoft might be going for this option in order to achieve faster transfer speed and charging, but it’s not yet known if the same option could be used on the final model, as this is just a prototype for the time being.

Lumia 850 would obviously launch with Windows 10 Mobile and come as a successor to the Lumia 830 affordable flagship, but nothing is confirmed so far.

More details could be provided in the coming weeks, especially as we get closer to MWC, but it remains to be seen if Microsoft wants to take the wraps off this new model during this event or not.
