Google is expected to unveil three new smartphones in the Pixel 2 series this year, including one with a much larger display than that of the Pixel 2 XL. However, details about the upcoming phones are quite scarce.

A render of the Pixel 2 just surfaced in a report, revealing a dual-camera setup on the back and a nearly bezel-less screen on the Google phone. The sensors on the back are said to be 16MP, while the front facing camera could have an 8MP lens.

The leak also says that the upcoming phone will run Qualcomm's Snapdragon 836 platform, which was recently revealed to be in development. However, the Snapdragon 836 hasn’t been confirmed yet, so take the information with a grain of salt. If the processor is not released, than the Pixel and Pixel XL will most likely run the Snapdragon 835 platform, found in many flagship smartphones released this year.

Bezel-less screen with more space to display content

The image shows a nearly bezel-less display for the new phone, while the back panel design is roughly the same as on the Pixel and Pixel XL. The smartphones came with a matte finish on the metal and glass back panels.

Pixel 2 appears to offer more screen space than the previous Pixel phone, following similar design traits as Samsung’s Galaxy S8 and LG G6, with a focus on larger display areas. It’s also worth noting that the image resembles a concept which surfaced last month.

Google is expected to keep the Pixel phones in the premium range of smartphones and launch them with improved rear camera capabilities. Pixel and Pixel XL phones had the best smartphone cameras at the time of the launch, but they were recently dethroned from the DxO Mark chart by HTC U11. Moreover, the phones could arrive in October this year and run Android O out of the box, together with a new Pixel Launcher version. Some rumors suggest that new Pixel phones may not feature 3.5mm headphone jacks, but that remains to be seen.
