ASUS unveiled the other day the entire ZenFone 4 series of Android-powered smartphones during a live "We Love Photo" event in Taipei, Taiwan, along with the company's plans for releasing updates for both the ZenFone 3 and ZenFone 4 series.

During the event, ASUS announced a total of six ZenFone 4 smartphones with different specs and features, including the ZenFone 4, ZenFone 4 Pro, ZenFone 4 Selfie, ZenFone 4 Selfie Pro, ZenFone 4 Max, and ZenFone 4 Max Pro. All devices are shipping with ASUS' ZenUI 4.0, which is based on Android 7.0 (Nougat).

According to an announcement posted by a moderator on the official ASUS ZenTalk forum, Marcel Campos, Head of Global Content Marketing at ASUS, announced that the entire ZenFone 4 series would be upgraded to Android 8.0, which Google will unveil next week on August 21 during a live event in New York City.

The entire ZenFone 3 series will also receive Android O

But wait, because it looks like ASUS promises to upgrade the entire ZenFone 3 series of smartphones as well to Android O. Announced last summer, the ZenFone 3 series come with Android 6.0.1 (Marshmallow) operating system by default, but they're all upgradable to Android 7.0 (Nougat).

ASUS did a great job this time with ZenUI 4.0, optimizing it to make apps open faster, drop any unnecessary bloatware, as well as to add various improvements to its functionality. New features like Twin Apps and Page Marker are also present in ZenUI 4.0, which ZenFone 4 owners will be the first to enjoy.

But Android 8.0 will come with a bunch of cool new features on its own, including those that were leaked online during its development cycle. Highlights include PiP (Picture-in-Picture) mode, Bluetooth audio enhancements, adaptive icons, notification dots to app icons, and many others that will be unveiled this Monday.
