Three months to complete the Anniversary Update rollout

Microsoft started the Windows 10 Anniversary Update rollout on August 2, but at that time, the company didn’t say how many weeks it would take to ship it to all eligible computers.

But according to a new report, Microsoft estimates that in approximately three months, all Windows 10 devices should receive the Anniversary Update, which means that by November, pretty much everyone should already be able to download and install Windows 10 version 1607.

ZDNet says that Microsoft confirmed the deadline in an email on the Anniversary Update, but no further details were provided.

“The Anniversary Update will download and install via Windows Update. The download is automatically available to you. It will begin rolling out on 2 August 2016 and may take up to 3 months to reach all users. Internet access fees may apply,” the email reads.

Still working to fix issues

The biggest challenge right now for Microsoft is to make the Anniversary Update available for the remaining users, but at the same time, the company also needs to address issues that those who have already received the new bits reported back to the Windows team.

For example, Microsoft is expected to ship an update that would address a Windows 10 Anniversary Update partition issue in the coming weeks, as the company has already acknowledged the bug and said that a fix is on its way. This issue caused some partitions to no longer be visible after upgrading to the Anniversary Update, but Microsoft says that no data is lost, and the upcoming update would return things to normal.

In the meantime, if you haven’t received the Anniversary Update already, you can always get it manually using the Media Creation Tool that also allows you to create installation media for other computers. The Media Creation Tool works as a wizard, so even if you’re not a tech-savvy user, the whole upgrading process should work smoothly.
