Video game publisher Electronic Arts, platform holder Sony and retail chain Gamestop are announcing that they are offering all those who pick up a new PlayStation 4 home console a free copy of Madden NFL 16 as long as they make their purchase before the end of August.

The information comes from an image on NeoGAF showing a poster from the store that mentions the promotion and offers gamers some other options if they are looking to get access to the new American football simulation created by EA Sports.

There's a lot of value in the offer and a lot of players will be ready to get a console and Madden NFL 16, given the huge amount of playtime that a dedicated fan can spend with the title, especially when the Ultimate Team mode is taken into account.

The promotion is currently available only in the United States and it is unlikely that Sony and Electronic Arts will also make it available in Europe, given the lower popularity of the sport and the video game associated with it in this region.

Sony is countering a bundle including the Xbox One from Microsoft

The PlayStation 4 is at the moment leading overall sales for the modern generation of home consoles, and the platform holder is eager to keep it in that position for as long as possible.

Given the popularity of the Madden NFL series, Microsoft has launched a bundle that features that game and the Xbox One, which has probably proved popular with gamers.

To counter it, Sony has introduced this new offer, which is not quite a bundle but has almost the same effect for gamers who want to pick the simulation and a piece of hardware on which to run it.

Today, Uber has also announced that it is offering free copies of Madden NFL 16 to customers in select cities and that they also have a chance to pick up other prizes associated with the game.

EA Sports says the new installment in the long-running series offers a new take on the classic gameplay ideas, focusing on the battle for aerial supremacy, and introduces the new Draft experience to the popular Ultimate Team multiplayer mode.
