More analysts predict a delay in iPhone 8 shipments

It’s almost official now, though given Apple’s famous secrecy we’ll never find out for sure until the public announcement in September: the iPhone 8 will be hit by a one-month delay, and the new features that Cupertino is bringing to the device are the ones to blame.

After so many rumors and leaks pointing to an iPhone 8 delay, here come some other analysts that predict the same thing, again using information from Apple suppliers.

“Our conversations with the Supply Chain suggest that the iPhone 8 will ship 3-4 weeks delayed given technological issues which Apple and its suppliers are working through,” analysts Wamsi Mohan and Stefano Pascale have been quoted as saying recently.

In other words, while the iPhone 8 will indeed be presented at the company’s press event in September alongside the iPhone 7s and the 7s Plus, it will actually hit the shelves 4 weeks later after the other two models.

This means that while the more subtly-refreshed iPhones should go on sale in late September or early October, the iPhone 8 should become available in late October or early November.

Software struggles

According to recent reports, Apple is having a hard time finalizing a set of software improvements powering key features coming to the iPhone 8, like wireless charging and 3D facial recognition.

Employees are working around the clock to get these features ready for the September launch, but there are still are plenty of bugs to be addressed, even though we’re approximately two months away from the moment Apple should show the new iPhone to the world.

At the same time, it appears that Cupertino is still undecided on what to do with the Touch ID sensor, with some sources saying that the company wants to give up on it entirely, while others claimed it still wants to embed it into the screen.

No matter the case, the iPhone 8 is very likely to hit the shelves later than expected, with 2017 sales to obviously be impacted as well.
