Dell has announced its refreshed Alienware lineup at PAX West today, as it introduces gaming laptops that are thinner and lighter than the previous models and that sport new features and Windows 10.

First and foremost, the new series includes three different models, namely Alienware 13, 15, and 17, each coming with the best in terms of hardware in order to offer uncompromised gaming experience.

First and foremost, it’s worth mentioning that Alienware has substantially improved the laptops in terms of portability, as they’re both lighter and thinner thanks to this new generation. For example, Alienware has managed to make the Alienware 13 just 22mm thin, down from 28mm on the previous model, while the 15 model is just 22mm thin, a 12mm decrease versus the 2015 model.

Hardware-wise, the new laptops can’t be anything but impressive. The manufacturer installed the latest NVIDIA graphics chips, so the Alienware 13 comes with GTX 1060 while the 15 features the GTX 1070. Obviously, the Alienware features the super powerful GTX 1080.

Additionally, the Alienware 15 and 17 will be powered by the Intel Core i7 6820HK Skylake processor, which goes up to 4.1 GHz in Turbo mode. The top-of-the-range configuration features 32 GB of RAM and 1 TB of storage.

Eye-tracking tech

Another exciting feature that’s available on this new series of Alienware 17 laptops is Tobii eye tracking, which makes it possible to control certain things only with your eyes.

For example, the eye-tracking camera can automatically disable the keyboard lighting when you’re not looking at the laptop in order to preserve battery, but also make it possible to simply power up the laptop and unlock it when you take a seat at the desk and look at the Alienware logo. Windows Hello support is also available for quick authentication to the Windows 10 desktop.

The audio system has also been improved with a new speaker design, which includes “internal smart-amps that monitor audio waveforms, enabling the use of the entire thermal margin of the speaker for stronger sound,” as Microsoft has explained in an announcement.

Pricing and the other technical specifications of the Alienware series will be announced at a later time. The new models will go on sale in the United States and in specific markets in the coming weeks, the company has announced today.
