14 DAY TRIAL // Alcatel announced the Idol 4S during the MWC event in February earlier this year, and it seems that the company has finally decided to release the smartphone in the US. Idol 4S will be available for pre-order starting tomorrow, July 15.
Alcatel Idol 4S comes with high-end specs and premium materials, together with the virtual reality headset that allows users to view content from an app preloaded on it. It sports a 5.5-inch AMOLED display with quad HD resolution and a Snapdragon 652 processor, which go well with the VR headset bundled with the smartphone.
3GB of RAM should be provided, and internal memory is set to reach 32GB, with the option to expand it to 200GB using a microSD card. In addition, it has dual SIM card slots and features a fingerprint scanner on the back. Rear camera capacity reaches 16MP, with f/2.0 aperture and 4K video capabilities.

The camera on the back also features a Sony sensor and phase detection autofocus and HDR capacities. Front camera capacity reaches 8MP, with 84 degree wide angle lens and Face Beauty mode for selfies. Other than that, the smartphone has a 3,000mAh battery and runs Android Marshmallow 6.0.1 with future support for Android Nougat 7.0, as Alcatel mentions on its website.
The handset will be sold together with Alcatel VR Goggles, deluxe head strap, Micro USB charging cable and Quick Charge A/C adapter, JBL in-ear headphones with mic, and 2.5D tempered glass screen protector. The price is $349.99 for pre-orders, and it will reach $399.99 when it hits general availability on August 3. Pre-orders start on July 15.
Alcatel's Idol 4S does offer some high-end specs for a lower price compared to other devices, and it remains to be seen if the smartphone will actually make an impression on the market, even though it should, considering that it also comes with a VR headset and lots of other goodies in the box.
