14 DAY TRIAL // Chinese company Alcatel OneTouch has just announced it has dropped the OneTouch brand and will operate under the name Alcatel, with a new logo and new focus.
The smartphones that will skip the OneTouch logo are IDOL 4 and IDOL 4S, which have just been officially unveiled by Alcatel.
Both high-end handsets will be showcased at MWC 2016 trade fair, but details about their prices and availability haven't been shared yet.
This is not the first time we hear about Alcatel IDOL 4 and IDOL 4S, but if you missed our previous report, here is more in-depth information about these two smartphones.
First of all, both handsets will be available in four different metal frames: Gold, Dark Gray, Rose Gold and Metal Silver.
Also, the IDOL 4S's packaging design transforms into a pair of virtual reality goggles which, when combined with the smartphone, allows users to see 360-degree content available via Onetouch VR Store.

Moving on to specs, Alcatel IDOL 4 comes with a 5.2-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports full HD (1080p) resolution.
On the inside, the handset is equipped with a 1.7GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 617 processor, paired with an Adreno 405 graphics processing unit and either 2GB or 3GB of RAM (it depends on the model). It also packs 16GB of storage expandable up to 128GB via microSD card.
The smartphone is powered by a 2,160 mAh battery and packs a 13-megapixel camera on the back, as well as a secondary 8-megapixel camera in the front.
Alcatel Idol 4S offers slightly better specs, as the phone boasts a larger 5.5-inch AMOLED display that supports Quad HD (2560 x 1440 pixels) resolution.
Also, the smartphone is powered by a 1.8GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 processor, coupled with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal memory that can be expanded up to 128GB via microSD card slot.
The Idol 4S includes a better 16-megapixel rear-facing camera and a similar 8-megapixel camera in the front. It's powered by a 3,000 mAh battery that hasn't been rated by Alcatel yet.
