Ahmed Mohamed has become a modern-day hero after he was arrested for bringing to school a homemade clock that was mistakenly believed to be a bomb, so now the whole world’s trying to support him in very different and unique ways.

Microsoft, for instance, has decided to send a plethora of goodies to Ahmed, including a Surface Pro 3, a Band, an Office 365 subscription, and a 3D printer, as well as a ton of accessories and other products that should help the 14-year-old teenager explore his creativity in the tech field.

Obviously, Microsoft’s not the only company that decided to show its support for Ahmed, as Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg also invited him to the firm’s headquarters and meet in person, while US President Barack Obama offered a free tour of the White House.

Other famous artists and celebrities in the United States have also expressed their support for Ahmed on Twitter, including American R&B singer Ne-Yo and politician Hillary Clinton.

Microsoft fighting for our causes

The boy’s story became an Internet sensation and went viral last week, with his Twitter account currently having more than 100,000 followers. So seeing companies such as Facebook and Microsoft stand by his cause is not at all surprising, especially because both have tried to get closer to their users and show that they care about such things.

In Microsoft’s case, the company has been trying to show a different face that’s more interested in what users have to say ever since Satya Nadella took over from Steve Ballmer at the helm of the firm.

Working with customers and encouraging them to get involved in the development process of their new products is part of Nadella’s vision, and this new approach already seems to be paying off: millions of users are actively testing Windows 10 and sending feedback to the development team.
