Time to bring a new blaster in the ghetto

The Boombox mania wasn't just something that could simply be tied to some technological trend in a specific period of time, but has something more to do with a social statement, a way to express music tastes that defy the social norm and attract scandal as a form of revolt.

Although the role of the boombox, or the ghetto blaster in evolving urban societies at the end of the 20th Century, has a lot more cultural weight than anything that could come after it, Afterburner tries in an honest and frankly much more powerful way to bring raw and powerful sound and bass to the streets in the same fashion as the boomboxes did 30 years ago.

Syncing with your smartphone or any other device via Bluetooth, the Afterburner Portable Speaker is able to deliver the highest quality bass with up to 38W of audio power. All you need to do is connect any smartphone, whether is an Android, iOS or Windows Phone, via Bluetooth and the device will play your songs immediately.

A new generation needs a new outrageously loud speaker

The Afterburner speaker is about 2 feet long and weighs 18 pounds, being quite easy to handle. Users can also put it into the boot of their cars and see how it transforms their internal sound system. In addition, in case Bluetooth drains your battery too quickly, you can connect you phone via an audio cable and save battery while also blasting some music old-school style.

Although it doesn't have a wireless charger yet and comes with a built-in battery, the speaker does have a wireless range of 40 feet, so no worries about losing your connection. It also offers slots to plug in a microphone and guitar, with two separate controls for the accessories. Sound output for the speaker is guaranteed at 20W RMS on battery and higher, 38W RMS, when connected to an AC adapter.

For $200 (€179) you can get your neo-boombox ready and blast some digitally-enhanced bass-rich tunes, so your neighbors can have something to complain about to the police. If not, just remember to enjoy your music responsibly.
