Personal Shopping Assistant extension launches for Edge

Microsoft’s Personal Shopping Assistant is an extension that was previously launched for Google Chrome and Opera browser, and now that Edge has support for extensions too, Redmond can release it to Windows 10 users as well.

While it could sound a little bit weird that Edge users are among the last to get a Microsoft extension, it’s worth mentioning that it wasn’t until August 2 that Edge received support for extensions with the debut of the Windows 10 Anniversary Update.

The extension comes on Edge with the same feature lineup as on rival browsers and includes options to automatically remember browsed products, save items to favorites and get price change notifications, login with Facebook, Microsoft, or Google account to have the same personal shopping assistant on all devices and share products you find online with others via email.

Support for the majority of shopping sites

The extension supports the most popular shopping websites around the world and allows users to compare products across sellers to find the best offer without even closing the browser.

Future improvements are already planned, and Microsoft says that it’s working on adding suggestions “for other places to buy a product with their latest prices,” but also tools to organize products into shopping boards and chat with the assistant on the go using a messaging app.

Microsoft’s Personal Shopping Assistant is built by Microsoft Garage, the company’s unit that developed several experimental projects that ended up available for download for all users thanks to their pretty helpful features, as is the case of several Android and iOS apps.

Obviously, if you want to install this new extension on Microsoft Edge, you need to be running at least Windows 10 Anniversary Update because this is the version bringing support for browser add-ons. The recently released Windows 10 RS2 builds that are available for insiders work too.
