Afro Samurai 2: Revenge of Kuma is a game developed by Redacted Studios and published by Versus Evil, but we should actually say "used to be published" since it's been retracted from sale.

Bad games are released all the time and the gaming industry is full of them. It very rarely happens for publishers to admit that and to pull a title from sales, but it's not unheard of. This is exactly what happened with Afro Samurai 2: Revenge of Kuma, which has been pulled from both the Playstation Store and Steam.

It's difficult to imagine how can you go wrong with a property like Afro Samurai since that would make an amazing game. The first one in the series wasn't all that bad, but the second one was actually more than just terrible. The Metacritic score put it just above 20%, and a lot of companies are using that metric.

Afro Samurai 2: Revenge of Kuma is gone

The publisher made a very tough call and pulled the game from both the PlayStation store and Steam. The Steam platform wasn't a problem, but Sony wasn't ready for this scenario and had to work with the publisher. In fact, the company went even further and promised that it would refund anyone who would ask for it.

According to a report on cgmagonline.com, the General Manager Steve Escalante from Versus Evil explained why they had to make this difficult decision.

"The game was a failure. We could not do, in good conscience, volume 2 and volume 3. So we’ve begun the process, it’s been a long process to figure it out because Sony has never really had to do this in this way, but we’re returning all the money. So across the board we’re putting out an apology saying 'sorry about this.'"

So, if you have Afro Samurai 2: Revenge of Kuma on any of the mentioned platforms and you didn't like it, make sure that you ask for a refund.
