BLU Products, one of the few US-based companies specialized in affordable Android smartphones with some success, has just released two new devices in the Dash family.

Both BLU Dash M2 and Dash X2 are now available for purchase in the US via Amazon for only $70 and $85, respectively. Even though they cost less than $100, they feature full metal bodies and run Android 6.0 Marshmallow right out of the box.

That alone should make them pretty popular among Android fans. Sadly, aside from the highlights that we mentioned, the BLU handsets aren’t too tempting when it comes to specs.

Disappointing specs with a few exceptions

For example, they both come equipped with 1.3GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6580 processors inside. The cheaper of the two, BLU Dash M2 packs only 512MB of RAM and 4GB of storage, which is quite disappointing to say the least.

The other BLU handset, Dash X2 includes 1GB of RAM and 8GB of storage inside. Luckily, both smartphones pack microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 64GB).

It’s also worth mentioning BLU Dash M2 sports a 5-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports 480 x 854 pixels resolution, while Dash X2 has similar size display but with better HD (720p) resolution.

BLU Dash M2 and Dash X2 come with 2-megapixel cameras in the front, but the former features only a 5-megapixel rear camera while the latter has a much better 8-megapixel photo snapper on the back.

Both smartphones come the full connectivity package (sans LTE), including dual-SIM support, which should be another interesting aspect that potential buyers might want to take into consideration.

Last but not least, BLU states that DASH M2 is powered by a 2,000 mAh battery, whereas the Dash X2 will include a slightly larger 2,200 mAh battery inside.
