A hacker known as ROR[RG] has dumped data from the Turkish National Police (EMG) servers, which is now available for download via BitTorrent links.

ROR[RG] is the hacker that was behind the Adult Friend Finder data breach, which released the highly-sensitive personal details of over 3.8 million users.

The hacker opted to release the data through the same website through which the FOP (Fraternal Order of Police) data breach was made public, The Cthulhu.

The hacker told Cthulhu that he managed to breach Turkish police servers two years ago, about the same time he also infiltrated other government systems. ROR[RG] claims he still has access to all the hacked servers, even now, two years later.

He claims that he released the data because he believes Turkish police to be corrupt, an opinion which many human rights activists, reporters, and hacktivists also share.

Hacktivists have plenty of reasons to hate Turkey

Turkey is in the midst of various media scandals regarding corruption and abuse of power. Members of the international press and the Anonymous hacker collective are convinced that the Turkish government is behind the death of US reporter Serena Shim.

Anonymous has also been waging cyber-war against Turkey, accusing it of helping Islamic State militants activating in Syria, and even providing medical support to its injured warriors.

Additionally, Turkish media has repeatedly accused police forces of using excessive violence in repressing public protests in Turkey's major cities.

The torrent file is about 2GB, but when unzipped it amasses for 17.8GB of information. All the data is in the form of .myd and .myi files, traditional formats for MySQL database server backups.

Because of the database dump's format, we weren't able to verify its content before the article's publishing date, but both ROR[RG] and Cthulhu have been trustworthy sources in the past.
