Adobe has just released a new beta version of Flash Player that brings some improvements for Microsoft users running PowerPoint on their devices.

Flash Player 19.0.0.209 Beta is being used to test a number of changes before they are introduced in the stable version which is widely available across the world and currently at version 19.0.0.185, but it's worth mentioning that today's release is all about the beta.

This particular version should not be installed by regular users who expect smooth performance on their PCs, but only by developers or those more experienced who can trace down a bug and report it to Adobe to have it fixed before a new update is released.

19.0.0.209 Beta comes with an eagerly awaited fix for Microsoft PowerPoint, as testers have complained that Flash content cannot be embedded in presentations created with the app. This appears to be a long-time bug in Flash Player 19, so this beta is the first step towards a patch that could soon arrive in the stable build too.

Security updates coming next week

While this is a release supposed to improve performance of the beta and bring fixes for confirmed bugs, Adobe Flash Player users should also prepare for a more significant update coming next week that could squash a number of vulnerabilities exposing their computers.

It's Patch Tuesday next week, the moment when several companies, including Microsoft and Adobe, patch their software to fix found security vulnerabilities, and Flash Player is very likely to get its own share of updates to prevent cybercriminals from taking advantage of any hole that might exist.

If you're running Internet Explorer, Flash Player is updated automatically via Windows Update, while Google rolls out new Chrome versions that also include the patch software.

In the meantime, you can download Adobe Flash Player 19.0.0.209 Beta and see what it brings new to the table, but keep in mind that bugs and other issues could still be experienced.
