14 DAY TRIAL // IFA 2015 is about to start off in a week or so and we’re already seeing teasers for devices we will probably see get unveiled during the event. For example, yesterday Sony posted a blurry image of its upcoming Xperia Z5 flagship with hybrid autofocus, which is bound to be unveiled in Berlin soon enough.
Well, Acer too will be present at the event and it won’t come empty handed. The folks at the German website Win Future have stumbled upon information revealing that the company will bring to Berlin two brand-new Android smartphones from its Liquid lineup. Maybe other devices are also on the menu, but for the time being, we’ll just talk about the two new Android units.
Acer Liquid Z630
The two smartphones are budget devices, like most of the handsets Acer has put out so far. We’re yet to see Acer release a premium model, but who knows what the future might hold for the company. Anyway, the Liquid Z630 arrives with a 5.5-inch IPS display with 720p resolution (1280 x 720 pixels) and runs a MediaTek MT6735 chipset under the hood.
The SoC is actually a quad-core Cortex-A53 processor clocked at 1.3GHz, combined with Mali-T720 GPU and 2GB of RAM plus 16GB of internal storage (we’re not told whether it’s expandable or not).
The Liquid Z630 features LTE connectivity, dual-SIM telephony, plus an 8MP/8MP camera combo. Most importantly, the phone relies on a chunky 4,000 mAh battery which should ensure that it has a long and prosperous life. Expect the Liquid Z630 to hit retail locations with a €200 / $228 price tag.
Acer Liquid Z530
The second model features a smaller 5-inch IPS display with the same 720p resolution (1280 x 720 pixels) and MediaTek MT6735 chipset we detailed above. The phone will probably be offered in two models, one with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage and the other featuring 2GB of RAM and 16GB of built-in storage.
No word on the type of cameras we’re going to see on board, but the source does say that the Liquid Z530 offers LTE connectivity, just like its older brother. Acer will sell the handset for just €140 / $160.
Both smartphones come with Android Lollipop, although the exact version remains unknown.
