14 DAY TRIAL // The Liquid M220 is one of the newest smartphones launched by Acer, but also one of the cheapest since it's now selling for no more than $100.
Unveiled back in March, the M220 made it to market in May, but it's not yet available in too many countries. Well, that's about to change since Acer has decided to bring the affordable Windows Phone handset to even more markets.
The latest on the list of countries that are getting the Acer Liquid M220 is Canada. The smartphone has just been spotted at Microsoft Canada where customers can purchase it for just $99.
Even though the smartphone has been priced very low, Acer has done that for a reason which is related to its specs sheet.
The Liquid M220 doesn't have too much to offer in terms of hardware, but since this is the Plus version of the smartphone, it comes with decent specs that should make it worthwhile.
Canadians can purchase the Plus version of the Liquid M220
First of all, the smartphone ships with Windows Phone 8.1 operating system right out of box and it's unclear whether or not it will get Windows Phone 8.1 Update 2 anytime soon.
When it comes to specs, the Liquid M220 is packed a with a 1.2GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 processor, which is complemented by an Adreno 302 graphics processing unit and 1GB RAM.
The standard version of Acer Liquid M220 comes with only 512MB of RAM onboard, which means not all apps and games in Windows Phone Store will work on that device. Luckily, customers in Canada are offered the enhanced version of Acer Liquid M220.
It's also worth mentioning that the smartphone sports a small 4-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports 480 x 800 pixels resolution. In addition, it comes with a 5-megapixel camera on the back with video recording and LED flash.
There's also a secondary 2-megapixel camera in the front for video calls. Acer Liquid M220 offers 3G connectivity, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, microUSB 2.0 support, as well as GPS with AGPS.
Last but not least, Acer Liquid M220 is powered by a 1,300 mAh battery, which is rated by the manufacturer for up to 200 hours of standby time or up to 3 hours of talk time.
