Acer has just presented its very first (and the world's first) phone with Windows 10, Microsoft's new operating system that will arrive on mobile devices next month.

Codenamed Jade Primo, Acer's new device was designed from the very beginning to run Windows 10, so there won't be a version powered by Android. But what's more important is that this thing allowed Acer to bundle support for the best Windows 10 Mobile has to offer, including Continuum, which is one of the key features of the new OS.

Jade Primo can thus become a portable PC, as users can connect the device to a desktop computer with a standard micro USB cable and mirror the phone UI on the monitor. Users can thus run apps straight from the phone and work just like they do on a regular PC.

Acer's new phone will thus offer this feature from the very beginning, and the company is preparing a wide range of accessories, including a keyboard and a dock, which should make this “phone that converts into a PC” approach even handier for those who are aiming for maximum productivity.

The spec sheet

Acer hasn't talked too much about the technical specs at IFA 2015, but the company's executives have described the phone as “your pocket PC,” clearly suggesting that Continuum is the big star of the game this time.

And yet, we do know that Jade Primo will feature a 5.5-inch super AMOLED screen and will be powered by a Snapdragon 808 processor. A 21-megapixel camera will be available on the back of the device with dual-LED flash, while for selfies and video calls, Acer will offer an 8-megapixel unit.

The company has remained tight-lipped on pricing, but the Jade Primo is expected to hit the market next year. Windows 10 Mobile is still in the works and should see daylight next month, so expect more Windows 10 devices to become available soon.
