The Windows 10 Mobile version is now up of pre-order

Although Microsoft convinced Acer that it would be best to launch a Windows 10 Mobile version of Jade Primo first, the company still plans to release an Android model.

Acer Jade Primo is the company's Windows 10 Mobile flagship smartphone and is already available for pre-order in some European countries.

Unfortunately, the smartphone costs more than Microsoft's Lumia 950 XL, which is considered the most advanced Windows 10 Mobile handset currently available on the market.

That's probably one of the reasons that Acer has decided to launch an Android version of Jade Primo, which, hopefully, will compete better with its rivals.

The smartphone has been recently spotted at Geekbench with model number Acer S58A, which strongly resembles the Windows 10 Mobile variant that's internally known as Acer S58.

The “A” trailing letter is likely to come from Android, and the information is confirmed by the listing at Geekbench.

Acer's backup plan in case Windows 10 Mobile doesn't sell well

The Acer S58A is powered by Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system, which is rare these days, but won't be so rare in one or two months from now.

The Android version of Jade Primo will come equipped with a 64-bit hexa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor, coupled with 3GB of RAM, the same hardware configuration as the Windows Phone model.

If the Android variant of Acer Jade Primo is the same as the Windows 10 Mobile version, then it will come with a large 5.5-inch AMOLED display that supports full HD (1080p) resolution and Corning Gorilla Glass coating.

It will also pack an impressive 21-megapixel photo snapper with autofocus, dual-LED flash, and 4K video recording, as well as a secondary 8-megapixel camera for selfies and video calls.

However, the Android-powered version of Jade Primo might only be used as a backup plan in case the Windows 10 Mobile handset will not sell very well.

Acer is expected to unveil the Android version of Jade Primo at MWC 2016 trade fair, which is scheduled to kick off in late February.
