The company should have taken its titles to mobile devices

Frank Gibeau, an executive in charge of social and mobile games at Electronic Arts, says that rival game developer Zynga didn’t progress because it focused on Facebook games and failed to notice the evolution of the genre.

He is quoted by VG247 as saying that, “Zynga blew it. They’re not a mobile business. We’re six or seven times their size in mobile. Zynga fell into a hole because they were completely focused on one platform, which is Facebook.”

Electronic Arts has moved fast to bring as many high-profile franchises as possible to mobile devices and create connections with the games it has launched on home consoles and on the PC.

The comments are especially harsh given that Zynga has recently changed the make-up of its leadership and has announced that it is focusing on core games for the foreseeable future.
