ZyXEL, one of the world's leading vendors of networking solutions, has announced today the debut of its new MWR222 Mobile Wireless Router, a device designed for on-the-road users who require fast and easy to set-up Internet connectivity for their wireless devices. Sporting a rugged and pocket-sized design, the ZyXEL multi-functional wireless router offers support for a wide range of wireless standards, making it a valid choice for use with different devices and several connection standards.

“The MWR222 is the logical next step in high-performance, personal router technology,” said Dana Patrick, director of North American channels for ZyXEL. “Offering the ultimate in mobility for individuals, families or small workgroups, the MWR222 packs today’s best-performing mobile broadband technology into an elegant, portable and affordable package.”

Among the key features of ZyXEL's new router, the company mentioned the dual-Ethernet and dual-USB ports that provide users with support for fixed or mobile broadband connection with fail-over protection. The unit also boasts a built-in, rechargeable battery pack, making it a truly wireless solution. The device is 802.11n compatible and sports a WPS button for a quick and easy security set-up, while a more complex security choice is available through the built-in firewall, WPA/WPA 2 wireless security and easy one-button set-up. To sweeten the offer, the router also features support for 3G and 4G networks, while a special integrated feature monitors the bandwidth usage and alerts the user when the bandwidth quote has been reached.

With all these features built into a single device, it comes as no wonder why the ZyXEL MWR222 is a 2010 CES Inovations Honoree in the Home Networking category. Part of the MWR series, the unit will be available in Q1 2010, for a MSRP of US$299 and accompanied by the MWR211 and MWR215, available for a suggest US$199.99 and US$99.99, respectively.
