ZuneMyTube is a plug-in for Internet Explorer that enables users to download video clips from Google Video, YouTube and Microsoft's Soapbox and synchronize them with the Zune digital
media player. ZuneMyTube is currently in Beta Stage and, as such, it is delivered for free. It integrates seamlessly with the Internet Explorer, and I have even installed it successfully on Internet Explorer 7.
By default, in IE7, the plug-in creates a button in the menu on the right hand side corner, the same that contains the Home Page button, but it will only be available when a user is on Google Video, YouTube or Soapbox. Just select the video you want to watch and click the ZuneIt button. The pug-in will do the rest.
And when I say that ZuneMyTube will do the rest, I mean it. The user is completely taken out of the equation. The fact that ZuneMyTube fails to present even the most basic graphical user interface is a downside to the product. The truth is that ZuneMyTube is only a public beta. ZuneMyTube's developer has failed to reveal if it plans to add an interface to the plug-in, but overlooking this element is not a good idea.
In its current status, ZuneMyTube downloads the video fragment from its source, converts the file to WMV format and saves the result into the My Videos folder. The My Videos folder is the default destination for ZuneMyTube's files. Nowhere in the course of the download, convert and save processes does the user have even the most basic control. Moreover, ZuneMyTube does not even provide a time reference so you could know when the download and conversion has ended.
ZuneMyTube was tested by Softpedia as being
100% free and is available for download
