The two products that Zotac has introduced through its newest press release are similar in role but quite different in how they fulfill said role. Their names are StreamBox and RAIDbox.

RAIDbox is a small enclosure that can house two MSATA solid state drives and lets owners choose between four modes of operation.

Said modes are optimized for maximum performance (RAID 0), enhanced data security (RAID 1), independent drives (JBOD) and a simply span data in the BIG mode.

The Zotac RAIDbox UD 10 has a too-less design, SuperSpeed USB 3.0 connectivity, and compatibility with Windows, Mac OS X (Mountain Lion) & Ubuntu 12.04 operating systems.

"The ZOTAC RAIDbox makes creating your own external storage device easy. A user simply needs to install their own mSATA SSD modules inside the ZOTAC RAIDbox and plug it into a USB 3.0 port," Mr. Berger added.

"The tool-less design makes customizing the ZOTAC RAIDbox easy as well."

The other product, Zotac StreamBox, lets video and image files be broadcast from Android smartphones, tablets and notebooks to TV sets, via the DLNA protocol.

It is compatible with Miracast, can play files off USB devices and has 10/100 Ethernet connectivity, plus 802.11a/b/g/n Wi-Fi support over both the 2.4 GHz and the 5 GHz bands.

"The ZOTAC RAIDbox makes creating your own external storage device easy. All a user needs to do is connect to the ZOTAC StreamBox via WiFi and launch a DLNA-compatible application such as the free Realtek AirFun app and begin sharing your music, movies and images," said Carsten Berger, senior director, ZOTAC International.

"Advanced users can take advantage of screen mirroring features found on select devices too."

The product pages of the StreamBox and RAIDBox have all this information and more. Pricing and availability details haven't been revealed yet though.
