Zotac only a short while ago came out an made the official introduction of its fourth graphics card based on the GF104 GPU, namely the GeForce GTX 460 AMP! Edition, which is a fairly strongly overclocked version of NVIDIA's mainstream GTX 400 model.

After NVIDIA unleashed the GTX 460, its partners were quick in filling the segment with new and improved versions, some even implementing water coolers.

Now that Advanced Micro Devices is talking about refreshing its entire line, an intention set to materialize later this year, Zotac decided to step things up a notch.

Thus it was that the official press release dealing with the GTX 460 AMP! Edition came forth and showed off clocks quite a bit higher than those NVIDIA settled for.

The GF104 graphics processing unit (GPU) is clocked at 810 MHz, a fair bit more than the stock 675 MHz, while the 1GB of GDDR5 VRAM operates at 4,000 MHz instead of just 3,600 MHz.

What's more, the card features 336 CUDA cores, a memory interface of a full 256 bits and a shader frequency of 1,620 MHz, compared to the stock 1,350 MHz.

“We spent extra time tweaking the ZOTAC GeForce GTX 460 AMP! Edition design to achieve the performance we desired,” said Carsten Berger, marketing director, ZOTAC International.

“The result is a graphics card that pushes the limit of the GPU and memory performance capabilities without making any sacrifices to noise, temperature or packaging,” the official from the hardware maker added.

Other specifications of ZOTAC's latest creation include support for 2-way SLI (multi-GPU setups), PhysX and 3D Vision Surround, OpenGL 4.0 and, of course, CUDA, among other things.

Finally, the GeForce GTX 460 AMP! Edition has HDMI, DVI and DisplayPort outputs and is bundled with Ubisoft's game known as “Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands.” Unfortunately, pricing details are undisclosed.
