The final version of Zorin OS 9 Business, an Ubuntu-based operating system aimed at Windows users who are switching over to Linux, has been released and is available for purchase.

It's not easy to claim that you can emulate the Windows desktop for the users who want a smooth transition from one operating system to another, but Zorin OS is actually one of the few Linux distributions that can really pull this off.

Interestingly enough, Zorin OS developers didn't just copy the entire look and feel of the Windows operating systems. They actually tried to make something different that would be able to accommodate everyone, both the Linux and Windows users.

The latest iteration of Zorin OS 9 is based on Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr), the OS built by Canonical that was made available only a few months ago. Ubuntu 14.04 LTS is supported until 2019 and the Zorin OS devs have promised to do the same with their system.

“Zorin OS 9 Business pairs the latest and greatest software with powerful and extensive tools to help you run your business. Updated software and bug fixes ensure that your computer runs better than ever while improved hardware support and entirely new software ensures that you’re getting the best experience, no matter which computer you’re using.”

“All Zorin OS 9 editions are Long Term Support (LTS) releases which means that you’ll continue to get software updates and security fixes until 2019, making it the ideal choice for large-scale deployments,” note the devs.

Zorin OS 9 uses the Zorin Desktop Environment and the Zorin Looks Changer to make the transition from Windows towards Linux much easier. The transition is made on the fly and it's probably the only application of its kind. Users will have access to six different themes that should prove more than enough for any user that has just migrated from Windows.

As you might have noticed, this is not a free operating system. The Zorin OS branch has a few of those as well, but the Business flavor is a little bit different from the rest. One of the main advantages of this edition is that users will benefit from technical support. Developers also provide apps for accounting, bookkeeping, stock analysis, database, retail, word processing, spreadsheets, and more.
