Advocates for the vegan lifestyle say it comes with so many advantages and benefits over the traditional diet that only thinking of listing them all could prove an impossible task. Not only is being vegan healthier, it is also more considerate towards other beings who do not deserve to be killed for their flesh. Unfortunately, not all those who set out to make the change can stick to it – and actress Zooey Deschanel is one of them, AceShowbiz says.

Deschanel decided to turn vegan, but soon found out that it was her own body that prevented her from sticking with the new and improved lifestyle, she admits in a recent interview cited by the aforementioned publication. Because of how restrictive the regime is and given that she doesn’t tolerate soy and wheat products, Zooey was forced to go back to her previous lifestyle, which allows for meat and dairy.

“Actress Zooey Deschanel was forced to give up her vegan diet – because it was far too limiting. The ‘Elf’ star gave up meat some years ago but recently turned her back on her vegetarian and non-dairy regimen after discovering she couldn’t eat soy or wheat products. She tells Bust magazine, ‘I gave it a good try, but sometimes you just need a little something, a little meat.’ She added to Health magazine, her food sensitivities made it difficult for her to star healthy as a vegetarian,” AceShowbiz writes.

At the very least, she gave being vegan a try – and the same can be said about “Twilight: Eclipse” star Bryce Dallas Howard who, not long ago, revealed that she too had to go back to the regular diet because her health would no longer allow her to be a vegetarian anymore. After giving birth, the actress learned that she had a condition which required her to eat meat, which is when she was forced to choose between sticking with what she believed in and her health. Understandably, she went for the latter.

“I was a vegan for several years – all the way through my pregnancy and the birth of my son. Becoming Vegan was actually more of a personal choice than a health choice for me, but there were many wonderful health benefits that came along with that lifestyle. Unfortunately, I learned a few months after my son’s birth that I actually had a rare condition that was triggered by pregnancy, where consuming the amino acids from meat became critical to my health. My doctor sat me down and finally said, ‘Bryce, you need to choose between your ethics and your future’,” Bryce was saying a while back, as we also informed you.
