A few days ago, staff at Zoo Krefeld in Germany went public with the news that said animal sanctuary was home to a snow leopard cub.
The cub was born at this facility several weeks ago, on June 13. However, its caretakers decided to keep its birth a secret, Zoo Borns reports.
This was because the cub's mother, Dari, went through a rather difficult delivery and zoo staff were unsure if its offspring would survive.
Luckily, the cub appears to be in good health. It is growing stronger every day and, judging by the picture above, enjoys striking a pose.
Presently, the International Union for Conservation of Nature considers snow leopards to be an endangered species.
The destruction of their natural habitat in central Asia and hunting are believed to be the main threats to their long-term survival.
