ToadTrip Studio has announced the release of its first video game, Zompocalypse. According to the makers, the zombie shooter will soon make its debut on Mac, when it will be available from ToadTrip Studio's website.

The Mac version of the game will be available solely as a download, the official ToadTrip Studio report reveals. Zompocalypse has been crafted using Torque Game Builder (a Garage Games product), “and infused with irreverent humour.” Fans of the old SNK games are sure to appreciate the “Metal Slug-inspired art, weaponry “appropriate to a zombie outbreak, layers of gameplay and beautiful women.”

“Then there's the zombies,” ToadTrip Studio explains, “with their hyper-stereotyped characters, patented zombie mobbing technology, quirky behaviors, and freaky bosses. To man the weapons, rescue the women, and beat back the undead, choose the copper, Sergeant Chuck McPain or the army officer, Captain John Smackdown, and play,” says the official description.

The company has also confirmed that Zompocalypse will be released in episodes. The first one available boasts features like multiple stages of frenetic zombie blasting action, 2-player co-op 2, six weapons, “including the most sought after of all zombie destroying implements - The Rocket Launcher,” the ability to upgrade your character and weapons, three boss zombies, “including the deadly and mystical 'Zombie Pope of Harlem',” and more.

PC owners have it their way this time around. ToadTrip Studio is offering Zompocalypse for half its regular price, since it's Halloween and all, bringing the game to just US$9.99 over the entire holiday period. Orders are handled using a secure online transaction system. Upon ordering their game, PC owners will be sent a registration key and a secure link to download Zompocalypse via email.

As soon as Zompocalypse is available for Mac, you'll be the first to know!
