Cast members and crew working on the upcoming “Resident Evil” film, “Retribution,” have been injured when a platform collapsed and they fell into a hole. Ten zombies and 6 crew members have been hospitalized.

ShockYa reports that, during a day of shooting in Toronto, a large platform collapsed and everyone on it fell into a five-foot hole.

When ambulances arrived on the scene, the report further says, paramedics had a hard time assessing the injuries of the cast members since all of them were in full zombie makeup and outfit.

“The accident, that occurred this past Tuesday, was said to be due to a platform that shifted at the Cinespace Kipling Studio, leaving a large hole,” the e-zine says.

The Ontario Ministry of Labor is now conducting an investigation to see whether the accident could have been prevented and, if so, who is responsible for it.

Depending on the findings of said investigation, shooting for the film may be shot down.

Davis Films, Impact Pictures and Constantin Film International have all confirmed the accident in a joint statement.

“It is with regret that we confirm this unfortunate accident. The thoughts of everyone involved in the production are with those who have been injured, and we hope that all have a quick and complete recovery,” they say.

TMZ reports that most of those rushed to the hospital suffered only minor injuries, like bruises and cuts.

Of the 16 injured, 15 have already been released after being treated, but one – a girl named Akiko – is still under doctors’ supervision.

Milla Jovovich, who plays the lead in all “RE” films has already visited Akiko in hospital, promising on her Twitter she’d continue doing so until she’s discharged, the same media outlet informs.

“Thank god she’ moving her hands and feet and not in critical condition,” Milla tweeted.

“I promised her that I would come and see her every week while I’m here to give her support and strength in her recovery. I can’t believe she said she wants to come back and finish her part, she’s incredible,” the actress added.
