This past Monday, a woman from Oregon, US, was taken into police custody after breaking into a home in the city of Lakeside and attacking 37-year-old Erica Tate.

The woman, identified as 27-year-old Jessica Rocha, told police officers that she broke into Erica Tate's home and attacked her because she was playing what she called The Zombie Game.

By the looks of it, Jessica Rocha turned out to be so good at this Zombie Game that she herself invented that 37-year-old Erica Tate ended up in a hospital with visible teeth marks all over her face.

How the attack played out

The police officers who arrested 27-year-old Jessica Rocha say that they reported at Erica Tate's home on North Eighth Street in Lakeside after being alerted that somebody wearing jeans and a hoodie was trying to break in, International Business Times informs.

By the time they arrived at the victim's house, Jessica Rocha had already managed to get in. What's more, the zombie wannabe had pushed the woman down the stairs, had pulled her hair, and had even bitten her several times.

Despite the fact that she needed urgent medical attention in the aftermath of this attack, 37-year-old Erica Tate did not suffer any life-threatening injuries. She is expected to make a full recovery, although it will probably be a while until she manages to overcome psychological trauma.

Possible explanations for the attack

It is understood that, at the time she broke into Erica Tate's home and lashed out at her, Jessica Rocha was inebriated. What's more, Sergeant Pat Downing with the local police suspects that she was also high. Tests are yet to confirm his suspicions.

By the looks of things, 27-year-old Jessica Rocha is quite fond of games involving zombies. Hence, it is possible that, being drunk and probably high as well, she thought it a good idea to have some fun recreating some of her favorite scenes in real life.

Whether the zombie wannabe attacked Erica Tate and bit her with surprising savagery due to a momentary lapse of judgement or whether she is generally a mentally unstable person is yet to be determined.

What the police has in store for Jessica Rocha

Having been taken into custody, the 27-year-old attacker will soon have to stand in front of a court of law and try and explain her actions. Information shared with the public says that the charges filed against her include harassment, fourth-degree assault, first-degree attempted burglary, and third-degree criminal mischief.

For the time being, the woman is still behind bars. She is being kept at the Coos County Jail on $77,500 (€59,890) bail, and it looks like she is yet to find a lawyer to defend her.
