The wife of acquitted murder suspect George Zimmerman has pleaded guilty of perjury in Florida, after initially entering a not guilty plea.

According to ABC News, she was accused for a lie during an April 2012 bond hearing in her husband's trial. The lie was related to the couple's personal finances.

She has apologized to the court and she will not be convicted of a felony. A conviction would have put an end to Shellie Zimmerman's nursing dreams.

She apologized to Judge Marlene Alva and she was served 100 hours of community service and one-year probation.

She has also had to write a letter to presiding Judge Kenneth Lester and apologize for perjuring herself.

Shellie Zimmerman told Lester that they had not money left, but they had been raising funds through online donation.

Once a conversation in code with her husband about the issue came to light, it let do his bond being revoked.
