The prosecutors in the George Zimmerman trial have suggested that the jury consider lesser charges in the Trayvon Martin murder.

According to the Huffington Post, the prosecution had originally charged Zimmerman with second-degree murder. They are now proposing a verdict for third-degree murder and manslaughter.

As I documented before, the defendant has claimed that he had shot the victim in self-defense in the middle of a violent mobbing attempt. Zimmerman is standing firm on his not guilty plea, as the defense wraps up its final arguments.

The jury made of six is set to deliberate starting tomorrow. Judge Debra Nelson has permitted the jurors to consider manslaughter.

Do you think that the prosecution is backing down because they are not confident in their case? Leave your opinion in the comments area.
