The judge dubs expert opinions on the provenience of the sounds inadmissible

The judge in the George Zimmerman case has ruled against the admission of expert testimony on a 911 call featuring terrifying screams by either the victim or the suspect.

As I documented, Zimmerman is on trial for shooting Trayvon Martin in what he alleges has been a self-defense act following a robbery attempt.

NBC News mentions that the 911 call itself can be played in court; however, the State cannot bring an expert in testifying that the noise on the tape came from Martin.

The defense has previously argued that it is impossible to distinguish who the sounds come from, bringing in their own experts.

"This order does not prevent the parties from playing the tapes at trial or from calling witnesses familiar with the voice of the Defendant or Martin to testify regarding the identity of the person(s) making the scream," Judge Debra Nelson explains.
