Though there didn't seem to be much activity on the part of the federal Communications Commission lately, this situation is now remedied by the rise of some information on a certain tablet from Creative.

With all the hype surrounding the slate market, it is not at all unexpected to hear that yet another model is coming close to being released.

This once, however, it is not a company that is offering a preview or details on its upcoming product.

Instead, a certain product by the name of Ziio got exposed via one of the latest filing from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).

The product in question is a tablet with a screen diagonal of 7 inches and is supposedly part of a collection of multiple slates.

This one is based on the ZiiLABS ZMS-08 system-on-chip and the panel itself is of the resistive touchscreen variety.

The aforementioned SoC handles pretty much every task that one would want to perform with this tablet, except for that of maintaining a connection to the web.

In order to access the Internet wirelessly, Creative put in an AzureWave chip, which delivers 802.11 b/g WiFi and Bluetooth.

Furthermore, the photos made available in the filing show four chips of NAND Flash storage manufactured by Hynix.

Unfortunately, just how much storage said four chips confer upon the devise is still a detail surrounded in mystery, the same as many of the others, like I/O and application support.

All in all, it is clear that Creative will, if not ship, at least announce the Ziio tablet in the near future, at which point its full set of specifications should finally be made official.

Meanwhile, end-users need only visit this link should they wish to get a first-hand view at what the FCC has on hand so far in terms of hardware details.
