Leading provider of intelligent interface solutions ZI Corporation announced the signing of a licensing agreement with ACCESS, formerly known as Palm Source Inc.

The goal of this partnership is to pre-integrate eZiText predictive text technology and Decuma handwriting recognition technology into the ACCESS Linux Platform.

Therefore, under the terms of the agreement, both technologies will be integrated into ACCESS' upcoming Linux-based platform, but not necessarily into all ALP-based handhelds. Zi Corp. will receive unit license fees for eZiText and Decuma from licensees who decide to integrate the two technologies into their devices.

Zi Corp. provides a full range of intuitive input solutions that are meant to improve the usability of mobile phones or PDA's. Zi's eZiText is a one-touch predictive text entry system while Decuma is a handwriting recognition software that has the capability to predict whole words as the user is writing each letter. Decuma has been built-in Sony Clies so far and currently has support for English, Arabic, Japanese and Chinese.

"This agreement has strategic significance for Zi as the ACCESS Linux Platform will open up new business channels and expand our reach in the smartphone and wireless device markets." said Milos Djokovic, President and CEO of Zi Corporation.

"Zi provides world-class technology and ACCESS is dedicated to providing a complete, ready-to-go, carrier-class Linux platform for its licensees." said Larry Berkin, Senior Director - Developer Ecosystem & Technology Acquisition, ACCESS. "We are looking forward to providing user-friendly services such as those from Zi that make life-on-the-go easier."
