Kathryn Bigelow returns to her comfort zone: depicting conflict

Oscar-winning director Kathryn Bigelow is well versed in depicting conflict and, in particular, the unseen but potentially fatal wounds it causes on the human psyche. Her latest project, “Zero Dark Thirty” doesn’t seem to stray from that.

After winning over critics (audiences, not so much) with “The Hurt Locker,” which also earned her a much coveted Academy Award, Bigelow buried herself in her work again, this time on a film that would document the events leading up to the death of Osama Bin Laden.

Inspired by true events and boasting the participation of several huge (and well respected) names in the film industry, “Zero Dark Thirty” is scheduled to arrive in theaters this December, having just gotten a first theatrical trailer, which you can see above.

Among the faces you will certainly recognize in it are Jessica Chastain, Joel Edgerton, Mark Strong (with a full head of hair and looking less the villain than he usually does), Chris Pratt, Kyle Chandler and Jason Clarke.

“Zero Dark Thirty” drops on December 19. Will you be seeing it?
