Jean-Philippe Guillemin has announced last evening, August 29th, that the fifth Release Candidate of the upcoming Zenwalk 7.2 Linux distribution is now available for download and testing.

"Lately we've been looking toward a better Slackware compatibility, which will make it easy to switch to 64bits in a near future using the Slack64 package base."

"In fact Pat has updated GTK2 and many other packages, added GTK3, making it possible to replace many Zenwalk packages with very little adaptation (1 year earlier it wouldn't have been possible, Slack GTK2 was too old)," said Jean-Philippe Guillemin in the official announcement.

Highlights of Zenwalk Linux 7.2 RC5:

· Linux kernel 3.4.8 (with BFS scheduler); · XFCE 4.10; · Mozilla Firefox 14.0.1; · Mozilla Thunderbird 14; · LibreOffice 3.5; · GIMP 2.8; · Netpkg 4.9.1 (with multi-mirrors support); · GTK 2.24.10; · GTK 3.4.4.
