Jean-Philippe Guillemin, founder of Zenwalk Linux distribution, announced, two days ago (March 7th), the release of Zenwalk Linux 6.0. One of the most important updated components is Xfce, the default desktop environment, which recently reached version 4.6.

"We spent the 2 last months polishing the desktop around the new Xfce 4.6, making sure that this brand new version is well integrated into Zenwalk 6.0. As usual, our challenge was to provide latest versions of the most modern applications as well as kernel, while keeping the usual level of simplicity and performance that makes Zenwalk special in the GNU/Linux world.", said Jean-Philippe Guillemin in the official release announcement.

The default GNOME office applications (Abiword, Gnumeric, etc.) were replaced by a modified lightweight version of OpenOffice 3.0.1. The suite was split in a base package (Writer, Calc, Impress and Draw) and an "extra" package (Math, Database, Java support). The first one is included in the ISO while the extra package can be downloaded through Netpkg.
