Zendoku is puzzle video game that was developed by British company Zoonami and published by Eidos Interactive for the Nintendo DS and the PlayStation Portable video game consoles.

The game was first released in Europe on the DS and PSP on April 20, 2007, and then arrived just for the DS in Australia, on May 11, and North America, on June 26, that same year.

Zendoku, in case you haven't figured out judging by its name, is a variation of the Sudoku Japanese game, but adds in fighting game elements to the peaceful hobby.

Players need to insert symbols on the traditional Sudoku board, instead of the regular numbers.

Players can also choose their characters and can use certain types of powers in order to battle enemies via special minigames that start when you fill up a Sudoku group.

Even though it was made and published by British companies, Zendoku has a number of levels influenced by Japanese anime and has a certain martial arts theme running through it.

Even though the gamer fights other characters in this title and has the ability to challenge real life players through a dedicated multiplayer mode, Zendoku also has special single-player puzzles.

The game received quite a lot of praise, especially on the Nintendo DS, as it had colorful graphics that entertained the player and kept the title from becoming bored.

The decision to change from the traditional Sudoku numbers to symbols was criticized though, as people always tended to mix them up.

The multiplayer mode garnered mixed reactions, as some people loved the competitive puzzle solving while others said that setting up the matches became tedious after a certain amount of time.
