Today, Zen Mobiles has officially unveiled a new Android-based smartphone for the market in India, namely the Zen Ultrafone 701 HD, which emerged online a few weeks ago, when retailers started taking pre-orders for it.

The new mobile phone was officially announced with a 1.2GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6589 processor packed inside, though with an affordable price tag attached to it, at INR 11,999 ($222 / 170 Euro).

The Zen Ultrafone 701 HD was also confirmed to sport a large 5-inch touchscreen display on the front, capable of delivering a 720p HD resolution.

The handset’s specifications list also includes 1GB of RAM, dual-SIM capabilities, 4GB of internal memory, micro SD memory card slot for expansion purposes, and a 2000 mAh battery inside.

Additionally, the smartphone was unveiled with an 8-megapixel photo snapper on the back, capable of shooting videos in HD resolution, as well as with a 3.2MP camera on the front, which should provide an appealing video chatting experience while on the go.

Zen also packed the new Ultrafone 701 HD with WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity, support for 3G networks, GPS receiver, and 3.5mm headphone jack, as well as with the usual set of sensors.

One of the most appealing features of the new device, however, is the fact that it runs under Google’s Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean platform right from the start.

Furthermore, it also sports a series of pre-loaded applications, including Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, WhatsApp, Zen Mini Store, Skype, MX Player, Contact Plus, Flash Light, Emoze, TOI, and Saavn.

Users will be able to download and install more of these through the Google Play Store, yet it should prove handy to many that some of the most appealing apps out there are already present on the device.

All those who will purchase the Zen Ultrafone 701 HD will receive a free Flip Cover and a Back Cover with the handset, fonearena reports.
