Shigeru Miyamoto says that a Zelda video game for the newly launched Wii U console from Nintendo will take more time to develop, which will be sad news for fans of the series who were hoping to get a 2013 release for their favorite character.

The veteran developer is quoted by The Official Nintendo Magazine as stating, “With the Wii U, we took a similar approach by launching Nintendo Land as well as a Mario game – though we’re working on Zelda for Wii U, that’s going to take us a little bit longer.”

Miyamoto explained why the Wii U failed to move as many units as Nintendo was expecting.

The new console offers more computing power and a new controller, the GamePad, which allows players to use a touch screen in order to interact with their favorite game experiences.
